Minnesota is leading the way to the future of food.

It’s something we know how to do well. We’ve been doing it for generations.

Minnesotans generated the 2nd most food patents over the past decade, from global leaders like General Mills, Cargill, Land O’Lakes, and Ecolab to the next big things. That expertise is what caused globally leading accelerator Techstars to place its Farm-to-Fork Accelerator in downtown Saint Paul.

The annual Food Ag Ideas Week connects food innovators large and small. It is powered by Grow North, which works to connect Minnesota’s food and beverage entrepreneurs at home and promote them around the globe.

Those food entrepreneurs have created close to $1 billion in exits over the past 5 years, led by brands like Angie’s Boomchickapop, Talenti Gelato, Bitesquad, and many more. Leaders of firms like these are helping inspire the next generation of iconic food brands.

Fifteen of the next big things are on display this week at Natural Products Expo West. You can find them in the Minnesota Naturally pavilion in the North Hall. You’ll find other Minnesota friends like Puris throughout the Expo West programming.
