In May, we’re traveling to Toronto to connect with 25,000+ people redefining the global tech industry – and we’re looking for Minnesota startups to join us!

Collision brings together the people and companies redefining the global tech industry. We believe Minnesotans are among those redefining tech, so we’re headed to Toronto to attend Collision May 20-23, 2019.

Our goal is to share the incredible things happening in Minnesota’s startup community with 25k+ attendees. As part of our effort to highlight innovation happening throughout our home, we have 5 booths available for Minnesota tech startups during the conference. This opportunity will allow companies to exhibit for 3 days, attend sessions, meet with investors/mentors and apply to pitch in front of attendees. Interested? Learn more below.

We are committed to selecting a group of companies that represent the diversity of our region, sectors of strength and founders. A selection committee consisting of representatives from GREATER MSP, Knight Foundation, Gener8tor, MEDA, and others will review applications and make the final decision on company selection. This team will review applications, select companies to interview and make final selections by March 27. See below to review the selection criteria.

If selected, startups will receive:

  • An exhibition booth for all three days of the conference.
  • 3 startup tickets, which includes access to all three days of content.
  • Inclusion in the Startup Search Profile, an online platform circulated to investors, media and all other attendees.
  • Opportunity to apply for Mentor Hours and PITCH, and access Investor Meetings and workshops.
  • Access to the Web Summit networking app to help build connections prior to the event and manage schedules.
  • Access to a dedicated mentor and startups information portal to help with preparations.

In order to attend Collision as part of the Startup Program, companies must:

  • Be less than 5 years old.
  • Have their own unique software product or solutions or they must be working on their own connected hardware devices. (Consultancies, agencies, developers, marketing/advertising agencies, public companies will not be accepted.)
  • Be their own independent company and not a subsidiary of a larger organization.
  • Be launched and live with their own working website at a minimum.
  • Not already be registered to exhibit at the event.

In order to participate as part of Forge North’s efforts, companies must commit to:

  • Having at least one person at your booth May 20-23 during exhibition hours
  • Securing airfare and lodging for team members
  • Completing an interview with Forge North team by March 27, 2019.
  • Completing an interview with Collision team by April 2, 2019

We are committed to selecting the best cohort of companies to exhibit together at Collision in May. In order to ensure the selection process is fair and equitable, we have created a selection committee made up of representatives from organizations including GREATER MSP, Knight Foundation, Gener8tor, MEDA and Graveti. These individuals will review applications, interview finalists and make final selection decisions.

Of the applications submitted by March 18, the committee will select 5 companies to attend and 2 companies as alternates based on the following criteria:

  • Founder Diversity: We are committed to providing equitable opportunities and access for underestimated entrepreneurs. The committee will strive to select a group of companies whose founding team members are representative of our community.
  • Sector Diversity: The committee will select a group of companies that represent a broad array of our sectors of strength (e.g. Retail, Financial Services, Health, etc.) The sectors highlighted in Collision’s tracks will also be taken into consideration when selecting companies.
  • Startup Stage/Experience: Informed by Collision’s existing criteria, he committee will take a company’s stage and experience showcasing/pitching/demoing into consideration to ensure a mixture of seasoned companies and those that can learn from this opportunity.
  • Startup Readiness: It is important that companies who exhibit at Collision are prepared for and can benefit from national and international exposure. The committee will select companies who are ready and able to leverage the opportunity.
  • MN Pride/Involvement: Startups that exhibit at Collision as part of this program will be part of a Minnesota Startup Island. This requires companies to have a passion for Minnesota and willingness to help us tell Minnesota’s story in addition to their own. Participation in local community groups, programming, accelerator programs or other involvement will be taken into consideration.
